BST's R and RA latches use a rotating, spring loaded cam to lock the latch in place when it reaches the mating lock recess in the mandrel latch tube while running the latch and its associated device (valve or dummy).  When pulling the latch, a pin is sheared to release the locking mechanism, allowing the cam to rotate into the latch housing and permitting retrieval of the latch and its associated device.

The R latch is the basic version, without a centering feature or barrier O-rings.

The RA latch (illustrated at left) has a slightly increased diameter just below the seating shoulder to allow more positive centering of the latch in the mandrel latch tube, and also has two O-rings to provide a debris barrier in the top of the mandrel latch tube.

Features:

Standard material is 17-4 PH stainless steel, with monel and other premium materials available.

R latch is completely compatible with all MM style 1½" side pocket gas lift mandrels.

RA latch is completely compatible with all MMA style 1½" side pocket gas lift mandrels.

Mates with all 1½" gas lift valves using 1-1/16 - 18 UNEF threads.

Meets requirements of API Spec 11V1 and NACE MR-01-75.

To run, use JC-3 or RR wireline tools.

To pull, use 2" JDC or SM wireline tools.
